Who We Are
The Kings Mountain Student Scholarship Fund (KMSSF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered with the IRS (EIN: 04-3736753). We are dedicated to helping graduating seniors from Kings Mountain High School in Kings Mountain, NC, fulfill their dreams of a continued education.
Each year, KMSSF awards a number of merit-based scholarships based on a competitive application process evaluating responsibility, character, and a commitment to continuous learning. These awards are made possible through the generous support of individuals, businesses, and organizations in the local community.

- Proven History: KMSSF has been providing $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors of Kings Mountain High School since 2003.
- 100% Volunteer: We have no paid employees. The organization is managed entirely by volunteers.
- Maximum Impact: 100% of your donations and contributions are used to fund educational opportunities for Kings Mountain students.
- Local Partnerships: Efforts are being made to collaborate with local businesses to provide internship opportunities for students whenever possible.
LEGGS Program
Our central program is the Local Educational Gifts and Grants Scholarship (LEGGS) program. Since inception, this framework has allowed us to pool resources from sponsors across the region and channel them directly into scholastic awards for deserving students.
Endowment Campaign
Launched in August 2004, the Educational Endowment Campaign was designed to secure a long-term foundation for local students. Our target is a principal of $100,000. Reaching this milestone ensures that we can award multiple annual scholarships indefinitely from interest earnings alone, shielding our program from economic cycles.
Endowment Campaign Status: As of April 2026, the fund balance stands at $92,417.34.
We are currently offering $1,000 Memorial Sponsorship opportunities. These sponsorships allow individuals or corporate donors to establish named recognitions inside the endowment fund. Donations are held and managed securely by the Community Foundation of Gaston County, Inc.
